In 2021, UniFirst implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as its ERP Financial platform. The initiative was led from Corporate IT to centralize application services and to address Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and Manufacturing functional needs across global plant and warehouse operations and remote end-users.
The Oracle Cloud ERP deployment emphasized lifecycle management of Oracle Cloud Applications, with a focus on timely patching and upgrades, application support, and configuration of core financial management, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and supply chain workflows. The ERP application team was charged with developing an operating model and an ERP application support plan capable of supporting SaaS and cloud based technologies.
Integrations were executed between Oracle Cloud ERP and supporting operational systems and third-party services to enable manufacturing and distribution functions, with the program team managing a transformation partner system integrator to coordinate cross-functional delivery. Operational coverage included corporate finance and sales functions as well as distributed plant and warehouse sites, aligning application services with business priorities across regions.

In 2020 UniFirst implemented Broadcom AppWorx Workload Automation to orchestrate and schedule enterprise ETL and batch workloads, aligning the deployment with its Business Process Management needs. The deployment targeted workload orchestration for the enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives that support UniFirst operations in the United States and Canada and its network of over 390 facilities.
AppWorx Workload Automation was configured to manage SSIS based ETL pipelines, multi-streamed integration processes, and job dependencies for multimillion row fact and dimension table loads. Functional capabilities emphasized job scheduling, dependency orchestration, retry and escalation logic, centralized logging and error capture, and automation of lookup and aggregation flows derived from migrated stored procedure logic.
Integrations documented as part of the implementation included DB2, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server sources, Pure Storage and VMware infrastructure for performance evaluations, and development toolchains such as Azure DevOps, Visual Studio Team Services and Git. Operational handoffs and runbook documentation were produced for datacenter DBAs, UC4 automation teams, and staff augmentation ETL developers to ensure consistent installation, configuration and operational support for workload automation.
Governance and process changes centered on phased ETL design and conformed dimension key assignment methodologies, plus standardized error handling and audit logging to support reconciliation of accounts receivable and invoicing data. AppWorx Workload Automation was positioned as the orchestration layer within UniFirst Business Process Management, coordinating data movement, transformation workflows and automated reconciliation tasks across analytics and finance functions.
