In 2021, UPMC Shadyside implemented Paymentus Payveris to provide online patient payment acceptance. Paymentus Payveris was embedded on the hospital website to deliver Payment Processing capabilities for patient billing and receivables intake at the Shadyside site.
The deployment of Paymentus Payveris centered on web-hosted payment pages and electronic bill presentment, with configuration for card and ACH acceptance, tokenization for stored instruments, and recurring payment profiles consistent with Payment Processing vendor capabilities. Implementation work focused on configuring payment workflows and user-facing billing flows to align with hospital patient financial services requirements.
Operational integration emphasized connection to patient billing, registration, and revenue cycle management systems rather than standalone point solutions, with the Paymentus Payveris instance serving as the online payment gateway for patient collections. Governance changes included standardizing payment reconciliation and security controls, and implementing controls for PCI scope reduction as part of online payment processing and portal management.

In 2019 UPMC Shadyside implemented Oracle Cloud HCM to consolidate Core HR capabilities for the hospital and central HRIS functions. The Oracle Cloud HCM deployment was positioned as the primary Core HR system supporting employee data management and HRIS operations across the site.
The implementation focused on standard Core HR configurations, including centralized employee record management, organizational and position management, workforce lifecycle transactions, and HR data consolidation for reporting and auditability. Oracle Cloud HCM was configured to enforce role based security and centralized master data controls consistent with hospital HR governance.
The roll forward incorporated prior on premise platforms explicitly including Infor Lawson HCM and operational experience from earlier Oracle PeopleSoft migrations that the central shared services team had coordinated. Integration activity and data conversions were managed by the HRIS Centralized Data Team to reconcile multiple source feeds and to establish a single source of truth in Oracle Cloud HCM.
Governance and operational ownership rested with a centralized HRIS team that managed a staff of more than 30 employees and coordinated cross functional shared services during the implementation. Change control, data stewardship, and operational workflows were centralized under HRIS leadership to sustain the Oracle Cloud HCM Core HR environment and ongoing practice updates.

In 2013, UPMC Shadyside implemented Oracle Cerner Millennium. The deployment established Oracle Cerner Millennium as the hospital Electronic Health Record to centralize inpatient clinical documentation and medication workflows at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The implementation encompassed core Electronic Health Record functional modules including clinical documentation, medication administration, nursing flowsheets, care planning and discharge planning, with bedside nurses using the system to collect and interpret patient data, administer medication and treatments, and document oncology-specific care. Registered Nurses in Medical Oncology documented care for inpatient cohorts, managed up to seven patients per shift, and used Cerner to deliver patient education on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
The 2013 deployment migrated clinical operations from a combination of Oracle, Cerner, and Siemens Soarian systems into Oracle Cerner Millennium, unifying charting and medication administration workflows across oncology and inpatient nursing. Governance focused on unit-level workflow reconfiguration and clinician training to align nursing, pharmacy and discharge processes within the new Electronic Health Record.
