In 2012 Valassis implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform. The program was delivered by an internal organization led by a team of 100 associates and focused on transformational services across IT and business operations, including ERP implementation and support, PMO and portfolio management, business process improvements, help desk operations, telecommunications, networking, data center and infrastructure engineering support, application support, business intelligence and outsourced services.
Oracle E-Business Suite was configured to centralize core financial workflows and enterprise reporting while the program established complementary capabilities for IT service management and application support. The team installed an IT Service Management cloud based software package and instituted application support processes and business intelligence workflows to improve incident resolution and operational visibility.
A newly created architecture and roadmap function aligned Oracle E-Business Suite with modern technology patterns, using cloud, Salesforce, BPM, ETL and BI as design inputs for future integrations and extension points. Delivery groups were reorganized to improve alignment with business needs and to shift effort from run and maintain activities toward growth oriented projects, while infrastructure responsibilities continued to cover telecommunications, networking and data center operations.
Governance changes included a formal PMO, CIO and CEO IT leadership council and Agile Scrum adoption tied to change management and senior leader alignment. The rollout reported explicit operational outcomes, including a 40 percent increase in internal project delivery capability and a 20 percent reduction in help desk tickets after instituting IT metrics, restructured delivery teams and service management tooling.

In 2014 Valassis implemented UKG Workforce Central (ex Kronos Workforce Central) for Workforce Management. The deployment was focused on timekeeping and workforce administration for more than 2,000 hourly and salaried non-exempt employees, with an embedded functional administrator role responsible for daily operations of UKG Workforce Central.
Implementation workstreams included configuration of core time and attendance, overtime calculation, schedule management, and system reporting capabilities typical of Workforce Management deployments. The functional administrator for Kronos Workforce Central managed system configuration, maintained payroll procedures, processed verifications of employment for prior associates, and calculated potential overtime "swing date" adjustments driven by a change in the pay period end from Sunday to Saturday.
The project included integration work tied to a broader HRIS and payroll transition from ADP to SAP, with explicit payroll and HRIS integration points feeding monthly turnover reporting into SAP for headcount and terminations. Governance and process responsibilities were led locally, with the Valassis project lead documenting and maintaining payroll procedures and coordinating operational cutover calculations that affected hourly and non-exempt payroll processing in UKG Workforce Central.
