Ge Vernova Legacy GE ADMS Utilities Distribution Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2022 2022
In 2022, Vector deployed GE ADMS from Ge Vernova on AWS Outposts using a hybrid cloud approach to increase scalability and automate deployment and testing. The deployment targeted Vector's Auckland area distribution network and served as an early cloud compatible ADMS implementation example in New Zealand. The GE ADMS implementation focused on Utilities Distribution Management capabilities including network orchestration, automated deployment pipelines, and test automation to support operational scalability and standardization of grid software services. Configuration emphasized modular distribution management functions typical of the category, enabling centralized coordination of fault location, isolation, and service restoration workflows through the ADMS control layer. Architecturally the project used AWS Outposts to provide local compute and control plane resources while maintaining cloud-consistent management and automation. The integration surface was centered on the Outposts environment and the GE ADMS control and orchestration layer, with deployment and testing automation built into the release pipelines to accelerate updates and validation across the Auckland area network. Governance and operational changes included embedding automated deployment and test workflows into release processes for distribution operations and rethinking how to scale and standardize grid software services across sites. The program has been cited as helping Vector rethink scaling and standardization of grid software services and as a reference for cloud compatible Utilities Distribution Management deployments in the region.
