In 2020, Techcombank partnered with Backbase Solutions and initiated deployment of Backbase Customer Loyalty in the Customer Loyalty category. The engagement began in October 2020 and the bank went live on the Backbase Engagement Banking Platform for retail banking in November 2021, using the platform to scale digital retail and business banking experiences across Vietnam.
The Backbase Customer Loyalty implementation focused on platform-native loyalty capabilities, including a centralized rewards engine, customer segmentation and tiering, personalized offer orchestration, and campaign management to support retention and recurring engagement. These capabilities were configured as modules within the Backbase Engagement Banking Platform to enable unified orchestration across mobile and web channels and to support point accrual and redemption workflows and personalized messaging.
Operational coverage concentrated on retail banking across Vietnam with rollout prioritized through the bank's mobile and online channels and iterative feature delivery to expand functionality. Governance aligned release cadence to the Engagement Banking Platform go-live schedule, and governance practices emphasized product owner backlog management and continuous tuning of personalization rules to sustain customer engagement and retention.
Techcombank's use of Backbase Customer Loyalty leveraged the Engagement Banking Platform to accelerate personalized engagement, and the platform deployment after launch was associated with strong app ratings and rapid feature delivery cited in post-launch communications.
