In 2020, Vijofel implemented TE-FOOD Trace Food, a TE-FOOD International solution, deploying a publicly accessible farm-to-table traceability application in the Blockchain Platform category. The deployment targeted Vijofel’s combined farmer, slaughterhouse, meat and meat product production operations in Slovakia, and was introduced as part of a broader Slovak ecosystem onboarding led by Food Trace, TE-FOOD’s implementation partner.
The implementation configured blockchain-backed trace event capture, product labeling and batch tracking workflows to record chain of custody from primary production through slaughter and processing, consistent with standard Blockchain Platform capabilities. TE-FOOD Trace Food was provisioned to support consumer-facing trace queries and internal traceability reporting, enabling recorded events at farm, slaughterhouse and processing touchpoints.
Operational coverage connected Vijofel’s sites to a network of local supply chain actors, including retail and foodservice partners such as Labaš Fresh stores and Fresh Plus supermarkets, the RIVERBANK restaurant at Marriott Grand Hotel River Park, Gašparík retail outlets, Stupava Fishery, DSA farming, Svaman slaughterhouse operations, Tomato and Dalmatian natural products producers, and Lunys wholesaling. The implementation emphasized interoperability with trading partners through standardized trace data exchanges rather than bespoke ERP integrations.
Governance for the project aligned with Slovak food authorities that are supportive of traceability, and the implementation partner positioned the TE-FOOD Trace Food solution as a customizable, flexible Blockchain Platform suitable for scaled projects. The program was presented as part of a national push to increase transparency in the European food industry, with Food Trace coordinating multi-stakeholder rollout and stakeholder adoption processes.
