In 2020, Wincanton implemented Oracle Cloud HCM as its Core HR solution. The Oracle Cloud HCM deployment was delivered as part of an end-to-end Oracle Fusion program executed using a remote delivery model across Finance, Procurement, HCM and Payroll.
Configuration emphasis centered on Core HR functional modules such as employee master data and HR transactional processing, with payroll interfacing and workforce administration configured to align with standard HRIS workflows. The program adopted Oracle Cloud HCM out of the box functionality, which required adapting business processes, managing business change, conducting role based training and coordinating communications to align operations with packaged processes.
Program Merlin was governed by a programme director led delivery team operating remotely, with governance practices that included change control, training rollout and stakeholder communications across HR, payroll, finance and procurement functions. Operational coverage targeted Wincanton United Kingdom operations, and integrations were scoped to support record to report and procure to pay handoffs between Oracle Cloud HCM and finance and procurement systems.

In 2014, Wincanton implemented SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as its Data Warehouse, establishing SAP BW (Business Warehouse) as the central platform for consolidated reporting and operational analytics. The deployment positioned the SAP BW environment to support database development, ongoing maintenance, and structured reporting across the transportation business.
Implementation work emphasized database development and maintenance, configuration of data models and reporting artefacts, and creation of automated reporting routines. Teams developed harvesting and consolidation processes to capture transactional and reference data, and used MS Office VBA automation to generate operational outputs for business users.
SAP BW was explicitly integrated with AS400 and Microsoft Access as source systems, harvesting data from AS400 and MS Access into the Data Warehouse for unified reporting. Operational workflows included scheduled data loads, refresh routines, and reporting extracts that combined records from SAP BW, AS400 and MS Access to produce consolidated views for downstream functions.
Governance and operational support encompassed data warehousing IT support, writing business processes and work instructions, and optimizing systems and processes to sustain the SAP BW environment. The program focused on embedding repeatable extraction, transformation and reporting procedures and on operationalizing documentation and support handoffs for ongoing maintenance.
