In 2010, World Technology Ingredients implemented Microsoft Dynamics GP - Inventory Management to formalize inventory control and physical inventory processes. The initial deployment targeted inventory management workflows supporting production, warehouse operations, purchasing, and customer service functions across the Jefferson, Georgia site and finance operations led by the company controller. Microsoft Dynamics GP - Inventory Management was configured with detailed account tables, finished goods costing routines, and overhead allocation controls to improve costing accuracy. The implementation included physical inventory automation through handheld scan guns and inventory audit procedures, and the controller led configuration, documentation, and user training for customer service, purchasing, warehouse handlers, and production staff. The project was executed alongside Vicinity Manufacturing implementation, creating a functional pairing between manufacturing execution and inventory control modules. Operational integrations explicitly included coordination with an external payroll provider and with an external CPA for year end tax preparation, and handheld scanner hardware was incorporated into stock count processes. Governance and process changes were driven by the controller who established chart of accounts assignments, inventory control measures, and training curricula, and who supervised external payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets processes. Outcomes recorded during and after rollout included reduced production down time and increased counting accuracy from scan gun use, and an annual inventory variance reduction of more than 20 percent.
