In 2019, RENTA 4 Banco participated as the first user of BME's Be DLT-Prenda blockchain-based collateral pledge service, implementing DLT-Prenda as a Blockchain Platform to digitize collateral-pledge workflows in its finance function in Spain. The service entered production in December 2019 and RENTA 4 Banco used DLT-Prenda to accelerate pledge constitution and recordkeeping for regulated collateral operations.
The implementation concentrated on digitizing collateral-pledge processes and automating pledge creation and registration workflows, reducing the time to constitute a pledge from about 24 hours to under 10 minutes. DLT-Prenda provided functionality consistent with Blockchain Platform capabilities, including immutable transaction records and near real-time settlement signaling to downstream clearing and custody processes.
BME's DLT Lab developed the Be DLT-Prenda service according to BME press materials, and some third-party vendor listings attribute the product name DLT-Prenda to DLT Labs though that vendor attribution is not confirmed in BME documentation. Operational scope was centered on finance and collateral management at RENTA 4 Banco in Spain, with rollout progressing to production in December 2019 and process governance updated to support digitized pledge constitution and ledgered custody references.
