In 2014, Inesing implemented Hexagon Maestro to support technical drawing and CAM workflows for laser cutting at its manufacturing site in Casirate d'Adda. Hexagon Maestro was deployed as the primary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to CAM tool to translate engineering geometry into machine ready code for production equipment.
The Maestro configuration emphasized CAM toolpath generation, nesting, postprocessor output and toolpath simulation focused on fiber laser cutting. The implementation was used alongside established two dimensional CAD and three dimensional CAD modeling practices within the engineering group, including Metal Designer, Solidworks, SpaceClaim and MD3, while CAM for punching and combined punching shearing continued to be handled by Punch and Jetcam tools. Functional capabilities in use included technical drawing import and cleanup, nesting, NC output generation and machine simulation to support production programming.
Operational ownership rested with mechanical design management and CAD drafting roles, extending support to production manager workflows and factory floor programming for the Primapower Platino fiber laser and Finn Power SG6 combined punching and shearing machine. Inesing used Hexagon Maestro to link design work in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to production engineering and shop floor programming, tightening the handoff between engineering, production and factory operations.
