Ceska Podnikatelska Pojistovna VIG a.s. Insurance 1000 $800M Czech Republic In-House Applications Neuron Insurance Pricing Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine 2022 n/a
In 2022 Ceska Podnikatelska Pojistovna VIG a.s. launched the preparatory phase of the Neuron project and advanced development of Neuron Insurance Pricing as a targeted Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine for product configuration and pricing. The preparatory phase began in February 2022 and was explicitly scoped to define budget, schedule and a transitive architecture that avoids a big bang cutover, favoring phased delivery across discrete functional domains. The initial technical focus centers on the Product Designer, Pricing module and Insurance Administration domains, with the Calculator implemented as a technological pilot that will underpin the Product Designer and Pricing module. Neuron Insurance Pricing is being built as domain autonomous applications on a modern technology stack, with the Calculator fully implemented on the MS Azure cloud platform and the 1BB product integrated into the Calculator for pilot sales. Integration and orchestration elements under validation include Camunda BPM for standardized process support and Kafka components for integration and orchestration, with an explicit requirement to separate transactional data from process data and functionality. The Camunda proof of concept implements an Extraordinary Commissions process for ČPP and is planned for pilot production deployment, concurrent with other domain pilots, within the preparatory phase timeline. Governance is organized by domain leaders who coordinate business analysts, IT analysts and IT architects across Kooperativa, ČPP and AIS teams, producing solution outlines for each domain that map As-Is and To-Be states. Business requirements capture yielded 927 individual requirements consolidated into 103 postulates through workshops, and these artifacts feed IT analytical and architectural streams to estimate implementation effort and create the project roadmap. Pilot implementations and proofs of concept have been completed for key domains during the preparatory phase, and the 1BB product is scheduled to be sold in production through the new Calculator in pilot operation by the end of the year. The preparatory work also verifies modern technological components and a new development process including releases to test environments, scope definition and testing methods, establishing the deployment and operational practices for the broader rollout of the Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine.
Kooperativa Czech Republic Insurance 4000 $1.1B Czech Republic In-House Applications Neuron Insurance Pricing Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine 2022 n/a
In 2022, Kooperativa Czech Republic launched the preparatory phase of the Neuron project and progressed plans for Neuron Insurance Pricing, an Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine. The preparatory phase was established to define scope, set budget and schedule, and create a phased roadmap and transitive architecture for the core system implementation, with a deliberate decision to avoid a big-bang rollout and instead deliver functionality gradually by domain. During the preparatory stream Kooperativa collected 927 business requirements which were consolidated into 103 postulates through workshops, serving as primary inputs to IT analytical and architectural work. Activities were organized by future functional domains, each overseen by a domain leader coordinating business analysts, IT analysts and IT architects across Kooperativa, ČPP and AIS teams, with solution outlines capturing As-Is and To-Be states to estimate implementation effort and drive the project roadmap. Early development targeted the Product Designer, Pricing module and Insurance Administration domains, with pilot implementations executed in the preparatory phase. A technological pilot integrated the 1BB product into a new Calculator component, which is implemented on MS Azure cloud and serves as the foundational engine for the Product Designer and Pricing module, with the 1BB product planned to be sold in production through the new Calculator in pilot operation by year end. A proof of concept for the Camunda BPM tool is also underway to standardize process orchestration, exemplified by a Camunda-backed process for Extraordinary Commissions for ČPP, with pilot production deployment expected by year end. The preparatory phase explicitly verified modern components including MS Azure, Camunda BPM and Kafka integration and orchestration components and emphasized a clean separation of transactional data and process functionality. Governance and delivery processes were redesigned as part of the preparatory phase, introducing a new development lifecycle that includes controlled releases to test environments, revised scoping and testing methods, and autonomous domain-level development on a modern technology stack. The Neuron Domain Model was defined as an insurance application reference model to articulate the scope of functional support for individual Neuron applications and their integration within the enterprise architecture.
