Cornish Mutual Assurance Insurance 131 $55M United Kingdom Open GI Open GI Insurance Rating Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine 2012 n/a
In 2012 Cornish Mutual Assurance implemented Open GI Insurance Rating to centralize pricing and rating capabilities across its insurance product set. Open GI Insurance Rating was deployed as an Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine to support product configuration, rate table management, and rule-based rating workflows used by product teams and underwriting functions. The implementation included configuration of insurance products and rating logic consistent with insurer product lifecycles, with the team building and maintaining product definitions in Transactor from OpenGI alongside the Open GI Insurance Rating deployment. Functional capabilities emphasized configurable rating rules, premium calculation engines, and reporting feeds, enabling business users to manage rate changes and product variants within the Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine. Technical delivery integrated the rating engine with Microsoft SQL Server for complex data processing and reporting, using SSRS for operational reports and Azure DevOps to orchestrate continuous integration and release pipelines. Development and integration work was executed using Visual Studio, C#, .Net Core, HTML, and CSS, and the program included integrations with third party systems for data exchange and downstream processing. Governance and rollout were driven by Agile product owner practices, with BDD acceptance criteria written in Gherkin, CI release pipelines, peer review and testing practices to reduce technical debt. The deployment included team capability building, training, and mentoring to support ongoing configuration and maintenance of the Insurance Pricing and Rating Engine across IT and product teams.
