Wright Flood | Insurance | 350 | $167M | United States | Katrisk | SoloKat | Governance, Risk and Compliance | 2025 | n/a |
In 2025 Wright Flood implemented SoloKat as part of its Governance, Risk and Compliance tooling provided by KatRisk to operationalize single-risk flood analysis and real time pricing. The implementation follows Wright Floods longer KatRisk relationship that began in 2019, and the 2025 deployment focused on embedding SoloKat into underwriting and pricing workflows for the companys private flood products.
SoloKat was configured to provide on demand single risk analysis for underwriting decisions, with SoloKat API enabling real time pricing and quoting. Complementary KatRisk components, including SpatialKat, were used for monthly portfolio analytics to track diversification, Probable Maximum Loss and Average Annual Loss trends. The deployment emphasized probabilistic, property level scoring and pinpoint location pricing rather than grid based rating, supporting both rating and portfolio level analytics capabilities.
Integrations were implemented between SoloKat outputs and underwriting and actuarial workflows, with the SoloKat API feeding quote engines to deliver near instant customer pricing. SpatialKat outputs were integrated into periodic portfolio review processes for risk monitoring and product innovation, creating a linked flow from single risk analysis to portfolio level decisioning. The operational scope covered underwriting, actuarial pricing, and portfolio management teams within Wright Flood.
Governance and model validation were formalized as part of the rollout, using historical event validation against major hurricanes such as Ian, Helene, and Milton to calibrate confidence in model outputs. Early internal testing informed the staged adoption of SoloKat API for live pricing, and model validation practices were used to expand SoloKat use from rating to underwriting decisions and product development.
Outcomes reported in the case study include performance results on admitted products that validated the approach, with the initial 10x10m grid based product running at a 43% loss ratio excluding LAE and a subsequent pinpoint based product running at a 27% loss ratio excluding LAE as of July 31, 2025. SoloKat and KatRisk capabilities enabled Wright Flood to move from property level analysis to real time pricing and ongoing portfolio analytics, supporting product precision and underwriting confidence.
