Apps Purchases: 10+ Million Software Purchases
Founded in 2010, APPS RUN THE WORLD is a leading technology intelligence and market-research company devoted to the application space. Leveraging a rigorous data-centric research methodology, we ask the simple B2B sales intelligence question: Who’s buying enterprise applications from whom and why?
Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Yahoo | Media | 7000 | $1.8B | United States | Dell EMC | Dell EMC Moogsoft | Incident Management | 2023 | n/a |
In 2023, Yahoo deployed Dell EMC Moogsoft as its Incident Management platform to address pervasive alert overload across a highly heterogeneous media services estate. Yahoo had already shifted large portions of its infrastructure to Amazon Web Services and public cloud services from Google and Microsoft while adopting microservices and continuous delivery, creating a complex monitoring surface that required situational correlation rather than raw alert volume.
The implementation of Dell EMC Moogsoft focuses on machine learning driven alert correlation, situation clustering, root cause suggestion, and multi-team collaboration capabilities typical of modern Incident Management platforms. Moogsoft ingests roughly 2 million raw events per day from 60,168 individual data sources via six monitoring agents and consolidates that volume down to about 10,000 alerts and close to 4,000 clustered situations, representing an approximately 99% reduction in noise hitting Yahoo operations. The platform is configured to monitor 424 unique business services alongside Yahoos internal infrastructure, enabling cross-service visibility for DevOps, SRE, and IT operations teams.
Yahoo implemented Dell EMC Moogsoft across both test and production environments, using the test deployment to fine-tune situation clustering logic prior to production onboarding. Integrations include a direct Datadog REST adapter for monitoring ingestion and a ServiceNow integration where ServiceNow webhook events and Moogsoft API calls automate ticket association and workflow handoffs. The deployment architecture centralizes event ingestion and situational clustering in Moogsoft while feeding downstream ticket automation into existing ITSM processes.
Operational governance shifted to a centralized alert handling model where all alerts are routed and processed through Moogsoft so that teams see consistent monitoring signals across business units. Automation of ticket association and the situational view reduced duplicate triage work and improved cross-team coordination during incidents. Moogsoft helped Yahoo avoid several costly outages and assisted operations center engineers in identifying and remediating financially impacting incidents, outcomes cited by Yahoo as concrete benefits of the Incident Management deployment.
