EASE Logistics | Transportation | 200 | $30M | United States | Descartes Systems | Descartes MacroPoint | Real-Time Transportation Visibility | 2015 | n/a | In 2015, EASE Logistics implemented Descartes MacroPoint as its Real-Time Transportation Visibility solution to remove time-consuming manual track-and-trace practices that were undermining proactive customer service. The implementation supported the companys 3PL service model that operates on a highly responsive 24/7/365 basis and aimed to deliver timely shipment visibility and exception management for high-profile customers with time-critical deliveries. The deployment of Descartes MacroPoint focused on real-time location tracking, dynamic ETA calculation, and exception alerting across all loads and borders. EASE configured the application to generate frequent shipment updates, enabling the operations team to provide customer updates as often as every 10 minutes, and to standardize a workflow that averages 10 updates per load. Operational reporting and status orchestration were used to reduce manual check calls and to concentrate dispatcher time on exception resolution and customer outreach. Descartes MacroPoint was integrated with EASEs McLeod Software® transportation management system, and connected to the carriers in the network via on-board electronic logging devices, TMS links, and GPS-enabled smartphone applications including Descartes MacroPoint for Truckers. This integration created a continuous visibility feed from carriers into the McLeod TMS, enabling location and status data to flow into dispatch and customer communication processes and to support cross-system ETA propagation and exception workflows. Process governance shifted from reactive phone-based tracking to an automated visibility-driven workflow, with dispatch and customer service teams trained to manage exceptions triggered by MacroPoint alerts. EASE reports carrier compliance with the solution at 84 percent and states that use of Descartes MacroPoint reduced time spent on manual tracking by an estimated 60 to 70 percent, saving roughly 10 minutes per call and about 1.5 hours per load. The implementation strengthened the companys ability to contact customers immediately when a shipment issue occurs and to maintain delivery performance during periods of high supply chain disruption. | |
