Apps Purchases: 10+ Million Software Purchases
Founded in 2010, APPS RUN THE WORLD is a leading technology intelligence and market-research company devoted to the application space. Leveraging a rigorous data-centric research methodology, we ask the simple B2B sales intelligence question: Who’s buying enterprise applications from whom and why?
Our global team of 50 researchers has been studying the digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by 2 million + companies including technographic segmentation of 10 million ERP, EPM, CRM, HCM, Procurement, SCM, Treasury software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions and perhaps the rise and fall of certain vendors and their products on a quarterly basis.
Apps Run The World Buyer Insight and Technographics Customer Database has over 100 data fields that detail company usage of emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database, and different on-prem and cloud apps by function, customer size (employees, revenues), industry, country, implementation status, year deal won, partner involvement, Line of Business Key Stakeholders and key decision-makers contact details, including the systems being used by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.

Abbott | Healthcare | 114000 | $42.0B | United States | SAP | SAP S/4 HANA Finance | ERP Financial | 2018 | n/a | In 2018, Abbott evaluated SAP S/4 HANA Finance as part of a global program to move its SAP ERP ECC 6.0 footprint into the next generation finance platform. The S/4 HANA Finance initiative was scoped as an enterprise level ERP Financial project covering all Abbott divisions and was positioned alongside prior SAP consolidation work that migrated 23 legacy BPCS systems into SAP ECC across five divisions and 68 country affiliates. The technical review targeted core finance and adjacent process areas, with explicit assessment of Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, supply chain management, and master data domains. SAP S/4 HANA Finance configurations and finance ledgers were evaluated together with master data harmonization and accounting process standardization to enable consolidated financial reporting and consistent transactional processing across divisions. Integrations and operational interfaces were considered as part of the design, including EDI integration and harmonization for third party logistics and manufacturing sites, and alignment with SAP IBP Demand Planning and Global S and OP processes for the Diabetes Care division. The program also incorporated systems, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and finance dependencies for sites such as the Donegal manufacturing expansion, signaling a cross functional approach to systems integration and data flow between manufacturing execution and financial posting. Governance and rollout planning were driven by Abbott process leaders, with Global Process Manager responsibilities focused on business process mapping, process simplification, and organizational change management elements. A cost and timeline recommendation for migrating SAP ERP ECC 6.0 instances into SAP S/4 HANA Finance was produced and presented to senior leadership, and program design included new standardized workflows, master data governance, and cross functional collaboration mechanisms to support a coordinated global deployment.

Abbott | Healthcare | 114000 | $42.0B | United States | Seeq Corporation | Seeq Workbench | Asset Performance Management | 2017 | n/a | In 2017 Abbott deployed Seeq Workbench as an Asset Performance Management application at its Columbus, OH liquid processing site, targeting analytics support for controls modernization and capital project management. The implementation was directed at engineering support for liquid processing operations at the 585 Cleveland Ave facility, with explicit use cases tied to validation workflows and report generation. Seeq Workbench was configured to provide time series analytics, interactive visual workbooks, diagnostic workflows, and template-based reporting to support process controls engineers. Functional capabilities emphasized data cleansing and normalization, event detection and root cause analysis workflows, and automated report generation to accelerate validation activities and control system modernization tasks. The deployment integrated Seeq Workbench with plant data repositories and validation databases to enable audited analytics and continuous improvement of validation work processes. Operational coverage focused on process controls, liquid processing engineering, and small capital projects, with hands on use and training provided to engineering teams for data visualization and report generation using Seeq analytics software. Governance centered on engineering ownership, training, and procedural updates, with senior process controls engineers responsible for audit of validation processes and rollout of analytic work practices. Adoption activities included structured training, embedding analytics into controls modernization workstreams, and ongoing audit driven process improvement aligned with Six Sigma informed practices.
