Banner Health Healthcare 55000 $15.6B United States Zelis Healthcare Zelis Payment Integrity Payment Integrity 2020 n/a In 2020, Banner Health implemented Zelis Payment Integrity to replace Change Healthcare as its electronic payment vendor and align payment integrity operations previously associated with Optum Payment Integrity. The deployment targeted the Banner Health Network and affiliated provider practices, with an explicit objective to expedite payment and remittance transactions and to comply with PPACA Section 1104. Zelis Payments was noted as formerly Pay-Plus Solutions, Inc., and the program focused on centralizing electronic payment processing and remittance handling across provider groups. Zelis Payment Integrity was configured to support multiple payment and remittance capabilities, including no-fee ePayments funded by Banner, fee-based ACH and Virtual Payment Card settlements, and electronic remittances delivered in 835, Excel, or PDF formats. Functional workflows emphasized provider enrollment options, fee consolidation analysis, and payment routing choices based on the volume of claims a group bills, enabling payment orchestration, remittance reconciliation, and enrollment management consistent with Payment Integrity operations. Operational integration covered connections between Banner, external payers, and provider groups using Zelis enrollment channels and customer service touchpoints. Providers were given several options to connect with Zelis, with enrollment and support pathways via the Zelis ePayment center, Zelis Customer Service, and Provider Enrollment Advisors, and enrollment resources available at https://bannerplan.epayment.center and https://www.zelis.com/provider-solutions/provider-enrollment. Communication channels for the rollout included email, fax, and mail depending on a provider’s current enrollment status, and direct support through Care Transformation Consultants or Specialists. Governance and rollout procedures required providers to confirm contact information and select the enrollment option that matched their practice billing volume, with Zelis advising on fee consolidation and payer coverage beyond Banner. Banner explicitly funded a no-fee ePayment option for providers that enrolled, and fee-based plan choices for ACH or Virtual Payment Cards were available through Zelis enrollment advisors. Announcements were scheduled to be sent via email, fax, or mail and providers were instructed to contact Zelis Customer Service at 877 828 8770, the Zelis ePayment center at 855 774 4392, or email help@epayment.center for questions.
