Alcon | Life Sciences | 25000 | $9.5B | Switzerland | IBM | IBM Emptoris Contract | Contract Lifecycle Management | 2011 | n/a | In 2011, Alcon implemented IBM Emptoris Contract for Contract Lifecycle Management to centralize procurement contracting and sourcing governance across the Americas, Canada, and international divisions. IBM Emptoris Contract served as the primary contract management and e-sourcing platform for Category Management, procurement, sourcing operations, and compliance reporting functions. Implementation included configuration of contract repository and e-sourcing workflows, and operationalized transactional buying processes to align with Americas and Canada compliance objectives. The program included use of e-Source event capabilities in IBM Emptoris Contract to run sourcing events and embed category management best practices into event design. The project team also developed and deployed a new OLPR online e-form and tool to capture transactional purchasing requests, with JDE subject matter expertise applied to coordinate transactional flows with enterprise procurement processes. Integrations and operational coverage focused on linking IBM Emptoris Contract workflows to JDE transactional touchpoints and to procurement reporting processes. The deployment supported periodic strategic procurement reporting to management and established monitoring of sourcing and operations activities to satisfy audit requirements. Process teams documented transactional buying process improvements and advised Category Management on how to execute e-Source events across Americas and International divisions. Outcomes included documented governance and audit controls for sourcing activities and realized more than $1 Million dollars in annual savings through structured e-sourcing and category management practices. Ongoing responsibilities included producing periodic reports of strategic procurement activities for management and monitoring completion of audit requirements. | |
