In 2022 Queensland University of Technology engaged Atturra to lead a transition to TechnologyOne Student Management as a SaaS solution, addressing an on-prem TechnologyOne Student Management System that was nearing end of vendor support and heavily customised on Oracle. The engagement was staffed through QUT Digital Business Solutions and ran for two years, making it one of the largest and most complex TechnologyOne Student Management SaaS transitions across TechnologyOne education clients, and it targeted core student administration and academic record workflows within the university.
Atturra provided technical leadership across planning, design, testing, and deployment for TechnologyOne Student Management, acting as technical and deployment lead for the refactoring and testing of over 600 custom artefacts converted from Oracle to SQL Server code. The implementation preserved the full Education ERP functional footprint while executing significant code refactoring and configuration work to align the application with a SaaS delivery model and the vendor supported stack.
The project included large scale integration rationalisation, with Atturra as integration lead refactoring approximately 400 complex Oracle dependent integrations, and the implementation of an on premise replicated environment to satisfy ongoing Oracle specific requirements. Operational coverage included collaboration between Atturra, QUT staff, and the vendor, and the solution architecture therefore took a hybrid form that combined TechnologyOne Student Management SaaS tenancy with an on premise replication layer to preserve Oracle dependent processes.
Governance was delivered through a collaborative engagement model where Atturra helped manage the program from concept through delivery and coordinated testing and deployment with QUT stakeholders, driving fit for purpose design decisions. The documented outcome was a successful SaaS transition of TechnologyOne Student Management that enabled QUT to leverage advanced vendor supported capabilities, de risk its student management operations, increase platform reliability and efficiency, and maintain alignment with the universitys Oracle specific requirements while remaining on an Education ERP platform.
