In 2020 Sporting iD implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations as its ERP Financial platform to unify finance, supply chain, manufacturing, sales and customer service across its global operations. The deployment is a fully managed software as a service running on Microsoft Azure, delivered with Dynamics Square as the implementation partner to support a multi-site manufacturing footprint in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations implementation encompassed core Financial management capabilities including core accounting, electronic banking, budgeting and planning, fixed asset management, tax, consolidations and financial reporting. Customer service capabilities were deployed for case and interaction management and incident routing and queuing, and Business intelligence was implemented using Power BI for interactive dashboards, customer service and sales insights and electronic and financial reporting. Global functionality was configured for multi company, multi currency, multi language, multi localisation and inter company processing. Supply chain and manufacturing modules included manufacturing, inventory and warehouse management, procurement and sourcing, cost management and master planning, and Sales features covered resource scheduling, project budgets and client billing. The Sana integrated web store was included as an independent software vendor integration to provide commerce capability from the same transactional data set.
Architecture and delivery used a hybrid agile waterfall methodology with a product first simulation approach and release management in Microsoft Azure DevOps, enabling quicker iterative delivery cycles and phased validation, launch and support. Integrations explicitly include Power BI for reporting, the Sana web store for e commerce storefront synchronization and Azure DevOps for release orchestration, with the Dynamics 365 integration platform used to unify CRM and ERP capabilities and break down departmental data silos. The implementation established a master data repository to provide a single source of truth across finance, production and distribution.
Governance and operational change included centralized release management, stakeholder validation processes and workflow restructuring to move away from spreadsheet driven reporting toward system level master data and automated processes on the production floor. Explicit outcomes reported by Sporting iD include improved visibility across manufacturing, distribution, customer service and sales, simplified production floor management, accelerated product introductions, automated warehouse processes and more accurate demand forecasts. Financial visibility was enhanced through immediate insights and electronic reporting, and the Dynamics 365 integration to the Sana web store ensured a single database feeding the web storefront which contributed to increased online ordering adoption by customers.
