In 2019, Verizon implemented OpenText Exstream to support Customer Engagement within its Billing and Invoices business function. The work was delivered with InfoVision as the system integrator and targeted the bill and letter generation platform used in Verizon's Billing and Invoices domain, with development activity reported from Irving, TX.
The OpenText Exstream implementation used OpenText Exstream Designer and Command Center as core tooling, and included the development and enhancement of bill and letter formats to meet new business requirements. Teams designed and developed modular components for the bill formatting platform to support monthly releases and longer term new bill format initiatives, and implemented Java based cloud ready solutions for complex processing tasks. SQL queries were created to support testing automation across formatting workflows.
Operationally the implementation handled multiple file formats including XML, PDF, and AFP, and supported real time application and process XML requests to generate PDF and AFP output leveraging Command Center. The Exstream environment followed a version upgrade path, with documented upgrade activity from V9.0 to V9.5 and active work to migrate from V9.5 to V16.4 as part of ongoing platform maintenance and modernization.
Governance and rollout centered on a release cadence aligned to monthly production updates and longer term strategic format initiatives, embedding the OpenText Exstream application into billing communications workflows. OpenText Exstream served as the primary Customer Engagement document composition and output engine for Verizon's Billing and Invoices domain.
