SAP Legacy SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2015 2016
In 2015, 3M Japan implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to centralize and standardize core ERP Financial processes across its SAP ECC and BW environments. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 deployment focused on institutionalizing financial processing, system monitoring, and system maintenance workflows within the ERP Financial domain for 3M Japan. The implementation included deep SAP Basis engineering and configuration work, installing and configuring Solution Manager components such as Early Watch Alerts, System Monitoring, Central System Administration, ChaRM, and the Maintenance Optimizer. SAP ERP ECC 6.0 system administration activities included applying OSS notes and performing controlled modifications, orchestrating landscape management tasks through LaMa, and executing lifecycle management driven HANA database installation procedures. Integrations and operational coverage emphasized hybrid connectivity and front end to back end integrity, configuring SAP BTP to enable communication between on premise and cloud applications, organizing Fiori application front end with RFC configuration integrity to backend services, and coordinating with S/4HANA implementation efforts on AWS cloud and HANA database administration. Operational scope covered 3M Japan SAP ECC and BW systems and involved coordinated work across Basis, HANA database administration, and service management teams. Governance and process changes were driven through regular multi team coordination and agile practices, centralizing system monitoring and change management in Solution Manager, and enhancing data governance by implementing data copy automation, scrambling, and masking via a third party tool to address SOX, audit, and export control compliance. The program also led multimillion dollar hardware and software upgrade projects and delivered an explicit outcome by consolidating production data refresh processes that reportedly saved 3M Japan at least $3 million annually in labor costs.
