SAP Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne SAP S/4 HANA ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, W. L. Gore & Associates implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial solution for the Medical Products Division. The deployment was driven by the Systems Strategy and Integration team and led operationally by a Business Execution ERP Champion based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with the primary objective of centralizing divisional finance and business execution processes into SAP S/4 HANA. The implementation concentrated on SAP S/4 HANA core financial modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, and Controlling, with configuration work focused on chart of accounts design, ledger and period close workflows, and financial master data harmonization. Configuration and automation efforts emphasized standard financial posting rules, period end close sequencing, and role based access for finance and accounting teams within the Medical Products Division. Workstreams included a migration and integration program from Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to SAP S/4 HANA, covering transactional data conversion, master data reconciliation, and cutover sequencing for financial ledgers. The scope emphasized divisional operational coverage in the Medical Products Division and coordinated data handoffs to upstream and downstream operational systems through the Systems Strategy and Integration team. Governance was structured around the Business Execution ERP Champion role to drive process standardization, deployment prioritization, and stakeholder alignment across finance and business execution functions. Change governance included role based adoption planning, controlled cutover windows, and centralized ownership for financial configuration and master data governance within the Medical Products Division.

Oracle Legacy Oracle PeopleSoft HCM Core HR HCM n/a 1998 1998
In 1998, W. L. Gore & Associates implemented Oracle PeopleSoft HCM to establish Core HR capabilities across the organization. The deployment provisioned Oracle PeopleSoft HCM as the enterprise HR application to centralize employee records and HR lifecycle workflows. Between May 2017 and December 2017 a PeopleSoft upgrade specialist worked on-site in Newark, DE to execute an upgrade from HCM 9.1 to HCM 9.2 and to update PeopleTools from 8.53 to 8.55. The engagement included creating upgrade templates, running multiple upgrade passes, and installing and configuring the PeopleSoft Update Manager PUM for image and patch management. Elasticsearch was installed and configured to provide search indexing and application search integration for Oracle PeopleSoft HCM. Changes were implemented to support fluid security models, aligning role and permission definitions with the fluid user interface enabled by PeopleTools enhancements. Operational coverage focused on HCM functional administration and technical upgrade coordination at the Newark, DE site, with activities driven by template based testing and PUM orchestration. Governance emphasized structured upgrade passes and documented configuration artifacts to control configuration drift and to capture security and search configuration changes.

Lumina Decision Systems Legacy Lumina Analytica Analytics and BI Analytics and BI n/a 2003 2003
In 2003, W. L. Gore & Associates implemented Lumina Analytica as an Analytics and BI solution to formalize R&D project review workflows. The deployment established a common modeling framework that standardizes how development options and uncertainties are characterized across projects. The implementation of Lumina Analytica centers on structured probabilistic modeling, explicit uncertainty characterization, and sensitivity analysis using tornado diagrams to identify which uncertain inputs drive outcomes. The modeling framework records underlying assumptions and their sources, making the full analytic provenance available for executive review and facilitating rapid interrogation of model logic. Operationally the workflow assigns a Facilitator to each project who acts as the assessment champion, combining modeling skills with process guidance. The Facilitator convenes an interdisciplinary Core team of subject matter experts to gather data, clarify context, and generate alternative development options to be evaluated within the Analytica models, with final model outputs presented to senior R&D executives for project review. Governance is embedded in the tested and approved framework, which reduces time spent disputing methodology and shifts review focus to assumptions and evidence. The Facilitator centric governance and the auditable models in Lumina Analytica created a repeatable R&D decision process that preserves analytic transparency and supports consistent executive oversight.
