In 2008, A.R. Mays Construction implemented Sage 300CRE (ex Timberline) as its Construction ERP platform to centralize accounting and project cost control. The deployment supported corporate accounting operations and property management workflows used by the controller in a Scottsdale, AZ corporate environment.
Configuration covered core modules of Sage 300CRE (ex Timberline), including job cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, report designer and general ledger. The implementation emphasized project-level cost tracking, consolidated financial reporting and routine generation of outputs for payroll, state sales and property tax filings, and month end financial statements.
Operational scope extended beyond single-entity accounting, with the controller running property management and accounting for two other companies simultaneously, which indicates multi-entity ledger use and centralized transaction processing. Day to day use impacted accounting, payroll administration, accounts payable and receivable workflows, and collaboration with the chief financial officer and external CPA for month end and year end close activities.
Governance and process responsibilities were retained by the controller who led the accounting staff and managed state filings and audits, while also negotiating vendor pricing and instituting a new credit card program to increase cash flow. The implementation therefore combined system configuration with process changes in vendor management and payment handling that produced explicit operational outcomes reported by the controller.
