| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2016 | 2017 |
In 2016, ABB US implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to support ERP Financial processes, with a primary focus on Plant Maintenance and Project Systems delivery and support. The engagement included implementation and post implementation support across ABB USA divisions and work to extend cross geographical functionalities within the ECC 6.0 platform.
Implementation scope concentrated on SAP Plant Maintenance and PS functional modules, with the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 environment configured for logistics plant maintenance and customer services. Functional configuration covered SPRO transaction settings for maintenance planning, maintenance order types, order costing, preventive maintenance scheduling, order confirmation and completion, system and user statuses, and related master data. Functional specifications were prepared for identified customization objects, which were developed, unit tested and validated in integration testing.
Integration work explicitly connected PM with core backend modules, including Materials Management MM, Financial Accounting FI, Sales and Distribution SD, and Production Planning PP to support maintenance planning, order costing and project WBS costing flows. Operational coverage was ABB USA divisions and included handling RFPs and smaller implementation projects across multiple geographies as requested, while resolving cross-module issues such as maintenance order status, bill of material inconsistencies, on time delivery reporting, plan versus actual cost comparison reporting, timesheet entry and project WBS costing reports.
Governance and rollout were driven by business process workshops and high level design sessions with client business analysts, with the author serving as PM and PS module lead for new implementations and support. Responsibilities included requirements analysis, preparing business process documentation, identifying deviations from standard SAP process to design custom objects, managing resource allocation, monitoring technical development and conducting thorough testing. Post implementation support and maintenance were ongoing components of the program, addressing production issues and enabling continued enhancements within the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 ERP Financial environment.
