In 2017, Acacia Network implemented Sterling Background Check to standardize and automate pre-employment screening across its HR operations. The deployment addressed BackGround Screening needs and was introduced alongside onboarding and document management tooling such as PeopleDoc and Digiscribe to create end to end hiring workflows.
The implementation of Sterling Background Check focused on core background screening capabilities typical for the category, including criminal record checks, employment verification, and driving record reviews to support vehicle usage policy enforcement. Configuration work aligned screening workflows with the organization s I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification process to ensure pre-employment checks and eligibility verification occurred in a coordinated sequence.
Operational coverage included HR processing of over 200 ADP new hire entries during a two month expansion, routine auditing of 500 plus employee records for compliance with regulatory bodies including DOE, DOI, DOHMH, OCFS, OASAS, DYCD, and DHS, and ongoing HR support to five subsidiaries representing more than 500 employees. Sterling Background Check was embedded in the hiring and onboarding workflow alongside PeopleDoc and Digiscribe and operated as the primary BackGround Screening engine for new hires and role based rechecks.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical rollout, with revised background check and vehicle usage policies updated to reflect federal, state, and local law and in service trainings delivered to staff to ensure comprehension of new procedures. Day to day controls included recurring audits, monthly I-9 processing volumes of 25 to 50 employees, and HR consultation to program directors to operationalize screening policies across programs.

In 2013 Acacia Network implemented AccuMed Behavioral Health EHR to support behavioral health clinical workflows within its Electronic Health Record environment, with work including the Promesa Bronx, NY site during January 2012 through March 2013. The deployment targeted clinical record capture and EMR operations across Acacia Network’s healthcare sites and was positioned as the primary Electronic Health Record application for behavioral health services.
The AccuMed Behavioral Health EHR was configured on a virtualized server platform and integrated with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 for the application database. Infrastructure work included data center rack and cabling management, server deployment on VMware vSphere 4, and storage provisioning on an EMC Vnx5300 SAN, reflecting an architecture that consolidated EMR application servers on virtual hosts backed by SAN storage.
Network and systems integration focused on enterprise connectivity and continuity, leveraging a healthcare MPLS footprint across 15 sites and over 20 remote VPN sites using IPsec site to site tunnels on Cisco ASA and other firewall appliances. Authentication and user management were integrated with Active Directory 2003 and 2008 for 2000 plus users, and system protection used Symantec Backup Exec for headquarters and remote office backups. Messaging and collaboration remained on Microsoft Exchange 2007 as part of the supporting IT stack for clinicians and administrative staff.
Operational governance was implemented through centralized network and server monitoring, configuration documentation using Visio, and hands on administration of routing protocols and Layer 2 resiliency protocols to maintain uptime for clinical systems. The IT scope covered data, voice, and video communications, server hardware and storage management, and routine EMR application troubleshooting, establishing a managed platform for AccuMed Behavioral Health EHR within Acacia Network’s enterprise IT operations.
