In 2022 Accenture India piloted GitHub Copilot and subsequently scaled Copilot Business across approximately 12,000 developer seats. The implementation focused on software development workflows across Accenture's global teams, with the company headquartered in Ireland, and targeted coding productivity, automated test generation, and technical debt remediation.
GitHub Copilot was embedded into developer workflows to accelerate coding and to assist with writing tests and refactoring tasks, leveraging generative code completion and context-aware suggestions common to Generative AI Platforms. The deployment emphasized operational use by software engineering and QA teams, aligning Copilot outputs with existing code review and development lifecycle practices.
Accenture adopted GitHub Advanced Security alongside GitHub Copilot to add code scanning and security feedback into the same developer toolchain, creating an integrated developer experience that pairs generative assistance with security controls. The rollout moved from a mid-2022 pilot to broader provisioning across engineering communities, with organization-level seat management and governance guiding use and access.
