In 2003 Achmea Investment Management deployed SimCorp Dimension to support front office, middle office and back office Portfolio and Investment Management operations, establishing SimCorp Dimension as the core system for investment processing and position management. Achmea Investment Management SimCorp Dimension Portfolio and Investment Management relationship underpins custody, trading and position workflows across the firm’s operations teams and provides an integrated investment value chain for portfolio managers and operations staff.
In 2021 Achmea IM launched a project to streamline corporate actions processing, and in May 2022 the firm deployed SimCorp’s Corporate Actions Manager standard package fully integrated into SimCorp Dimension, completing the project on time and on budget. The selection emphasized straight through processing capabilities and end to end integration within SimCorp Dimension, enabling automation of corporate events processing while preserving a single system of record for event instructions and statuses.
The implementation delivered functional capabilities including automated corporate actions lifecycle handling, centralized management of custodians’ instructions, an easy blocking process across custodians with direct updates to the front office, and the creation of dedicated transaction codes for each corporate action event type. Operational workflows were reoriented so teams focus on exception handling and transaction modification or re creation, while routine event booking and reconciliation are automated within the Corporate Actions Manager module.
Governance and operational impact included tighter coordination between operations and portfolio management through integrated visibility, streamlined workflows across front, middle and back office, and stronger process controls that reduced key person exposure. Achmea IM reports very high process automation, improved timeliness and quality of corporate actions processing, better business insights from the integrated solution, and a smoother handling of modifications as explicit results of the deployment.
