AECOM Technographics, Software Purchases, AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by AECOM and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 51000 AECOM employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that AECOM has purchased the following applications: Kofax MarkView for AP Automation in 2014, Workday Absence Management for Absence and Leave Management in 2015, Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) for Analytics and BI in 2015 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems AECOM is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with Tungsten Automation , Oracle , Infor or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing AECOM revenues, which have grown to $16.14 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for AECOM intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

In 2014, AECOM implemented Kofax MarkView for AP Automation. The deployment established Kofax MarkView as the primary invoice imaging and workflow platform to standardize accounts payable intake, routing, and document retention across business units.
The implementation paired Kofax MarkView with Kofax Transformation Module to provide optical character recognition and automated data extraction from scanned invoices. Configuration work focused on workflow orchestration, document indexing, and image enhancement routines, while desktop procedures were created to ensure consistent capture quality and downstream processing.
Integrations included downstream use of Oracle modules for accounts payable transactions, vendor maintenance, customer setup, and reporting, and the use of ApplicationXtender alongside Kofax MarkView for document management. Scanning hardware and image capture processes were operationalized using Bowe Bell and Howell 9125 and Canon Dr 9080C devices, with routine maintenance performed to preserve image fidelity for automated extraction and auditability, and processes were aligned with Defense Contract Audit Agency requirements for digital invoice copies.
Governance and process change included development of training documentation, process definition documents, and on and offshore training for Accounts Payable staff. AECOM documented a document retention strategy and maintained OCR software and the Kofax MarkView workflow, while RPA development using Blue Prism, WinAutomation, and Process Robot was used to automate repetitive AP tasks and complement the AP Automation architecture.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2016 |
In 2015, AECOM implemented Workday Absence Management. Workday Absence Management is an Absence and Leave Management application that was configured to support HR absence workflows and integrate with core HCM processes to manage leaves and time-off across the enterprise HR function.
Implementation scope centered on configuring Workday business processes and security to support absence and adjacent HR functions. Configurations included Time and Absence business processes alongside core HCM BPs such as Hire, Change Job, Request Compensation, Job Application, and Termination, with custom calculated fields and Workday Report Writer artifacts created to capture eligibility and leave data.
The technical architecture used multi-tenant Workday deployment patterns, with custom reports and security setup moved and validated across different Workday tenants. Integrations were implemented using EIB, Web Services, Document Transformation, Workday Studio, and XSLT to build inbound and outbound flows, explicitly including inbound and outbound absence integrations with Prudential and Cloud Connect HCM links between Workday and external systems.
Governance emphasized security configuration, segregation of duties, and comprehensive testing. The program established custom security roles and groups, audited tenant setups and management hierarchies, and executed unit, system integration, functional, performance, regression, system readiness testing and coordinated HR user acceptance testing, with defect triage and reporting to track test progress.
Operational coverage extended across Payroll, the HR Help Desk, Benefits, Absence, Compensation, Self Service and Talent Management, with workforce planning and eligibility rules modeled inside Workday to support absence analytics. Ongoing maintenance practices included adding and removing users within security groups, resolving defects across Security, HCM, Compensation, Recruiting and Talent modules, and publishing testing and defect management reports to sustain the Absence and Leave Management implementation.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2015 | 2018 |
In 2015 AECOM implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) as its Analytics and BI platform. The engagement concentrated on establishing an enterprise reporting and analytics layer that consolidated multiple source feeds into an Enterprise Services Warehouse, with explicit business analysis and requirements gathering during development phase meetings to align stakeholder reporting needs with data models and ETL scope.
Functional modules implemented included SSIS based ETL pipelines built from scratch, SQL Server Reporting Services report development, and SSAS OLAP cube design. The team authored end to end SSIS packages, defined MDX scripts for querying OLAP cubes, and created SSRS reports that incorporated custom JavaScript functions for data conversion and mathematical calculations. ETL design work documented column mapping, a formal data dictionary, and metadata to capture lineage and support downstream reporting accuracy.
Architecturally the implementation specified source server and database mappings, account contexts, table-level direction of data flow, and a staged transfer into the Enterprise Services Warehouse, creating an end to end ingestion and analytical layer. Performance engineering focused on large volume data patterns, writing optimized ETL and using Bulk Collections to reduce context switching between SQL and PL SQL engines for faster retrieval. Reporting layers included both relational SSRS outputs and cube based reporting driven by MDX queries against SSAS.
Governance and rollout activity included participation in business analysis sessions, full lifecycle development and deployment of SSIS packages, and the design of a high level ETL architecture to standardize server, database, and table mappings. Capturing a data dictionary and metadata was used to formalize governance for the Analytics and BI environment. The implementation addressed SSRS performance issues through targeted performance analysis and ETL optimization, delivering Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) as the enterprise reporting platform.
