In 2019, AEW Energie implemented SAP S/4 HANA IS-U as the cornerstone of an SAP S/4HANA Utilities initiative, with the implementation scoped to ERP Financial processes and utilities industry operations. The SAP S/4 HANA IS-U deployment was executed in collaboration with SI Aveniq and combined core finance, logistics and utilities capabilities on an integrated S/4HANA platform.
The program began as a greenfield transformation but transitioned to an expanded brownfield approach after the concept phase, to preserve existing IS-U optimizations. Aveniq delivered a solution concept to transfer SAP IS-U with selected optimizations and a dedicated data migration, technically migrated customer-specific in-house developments from the ECC system, and rebuilt the existing SAP CRM on a HANA database to the current release.
Functional modules and capabilities implemented include the SAP S/4 HANA IS-U industry module, a fully integrated SAP CRM on HANA, SAP Fiori apps for energy industry processes, and SAP Analytics Cloud for redesigned reporting. The project applied procedural and data technology spring cleaning to streamline IS-U processes prior to migration, updated e-bill to the latest release including a full switch to QR bills in accounts receivable management, and adjusted reports for improved user experience in S/4HANA Utilities.
Integrations and operational coverage centered on a unified S/4HANA core and utilities stack with CRM integration on HANA, and dedicated data migration routines for customer master and billing data. The rollout included close cooperation between AEW Energie and Aveniq teams, identification of over 80 optimization opportunities with 60 implemented during the project, and an activation milestone at the end of January 2022 followed by an extended hypercare phase through the end of May 2022.
Governance and knowledge transfer were formalized through joint process reviews and a train the trainer program for SAP Analytics Cloud, enabling AEW personnel to create, expand and maintain reports independently. The resulting environment is a future-oriented SAP S/4HANA Utilities installation with cleaned and migrated customer data, a modern SAP CRM on HANA, new SAP Fiori apps, and reporting centralized on SAP Analytics Cloud.

In 2019, AEW Energie implemented SAP Analytics Cloud as the centralized reporting and visualization layer within its broader SAP S/4HANA Utilities program. Aveniq acted as the system integrator for the overall program, delivering SAP Analytics Cloud alongside SAP Fiori and the S/4HANA Utilities brownfield conversion approach.
SAP Analytics Cloud was configured to host redesigned reports and dashboards, supporting ad hoc authoring and self-service report creation under the Analytics and BI category. The implementation emphasized business-user empowerments, including train-the-trainer sessions that enabled AEW staff to author, expand, and maintain SAC stories and models independently, while preserving industry-specific usability improvements introduced during the S/4HANA project.
The SAC deployment was integrated with the newly built SAP S/4HANA Utilities core and the rebuilt SAP CRM on HANA, using cleaned and migrated customer master and transactional data from the S/4HANA cutover. Reporting scope covered energy industry processes and accounts receivable billing workflows that were modernized as part of the S/4HANA program, providing consolidated operational and industry reporting across departmental users.
Rollout and governance included a production activation at the end of January 2022 followed by extended hypercare through the end of May 2022, and a knowledge transfer model to shift report governance to AEW teams. Departments at AEW Energie report improved report usability and the ability to maintain and extend SAP Analytics Cloud content without ongoing external dependency.
