In 2016, AIG UK implemented the Starfish Provisioning Solution from Starfish Associates as an Intelligent Process Automation initiative to centralize telephony provisioning and directory management within its corporate telephony function. The deployment targeted Avaya user lifecycle workflows, aiming to streamline the deletion and addition of Avaya telephone users and to reduce routine telephony administration for end users.
The implementation included an automated directory and provisioning engine and a self service portal for telephone users that removed basic administration tasks from support teams. Starfish Provisioning Solution was configured to automate internal directory updates and to provision new attendant directories across Europe using Avaya One X attendant, applying lifecycle automation patterns common to Intelligent Process Automation for user provisioning, approval routing, and directory synchronization. Operational management included administration of Avaya Session Manager and Avaya System Manager as part of the solution supporting provisioning and call routing integrity.
Integration and operational coverage extended to work with Avaya platforms, Verizon, and third party partners during a broader migration of the telephony estate to SIP. The project supported physical relocation of the Rotterdam and Istanbul branch offices and coordinated first day support and ongoing end user support, and it assisted business leads in migrating branch offices from ISDN to SIP in preparation for SIP native capabilities such as presence.
Governance changes centered on shifting basic telephony administration to automated workflows and a self service experience, with internal and external teams collaborating on cutover and first day support procedures. Explicit outcomes recorded include reduced basic telephony administration for end users and reduced call costs linked to the ISDN to SIP migration, while ongoing support and session manager administration remained part of the operational model.
