In 2016, Air Canada Cargo implemented E2open (ex BluJay TMS) Transportation Management to centralize global ground transportation operations. The deployment used SaaS architecture to provide a single global ground management center based in Toronto, giving real time visibility and cost reporting across the carrier and trucking footprint that supports more than 150 destinations and an expanding trucking network.
The implementation configured core Transportation Management capabilities including global shipment visibility, multi currency and multi unit of measure support, transportation procurement workflows, and prepayment audit and freight payment through WebSettle technology. E2open (ex BluJay TMS) was configured to automate billing and accounting workflows and to house audit quality rates that drive faster, more accurate settlements with trucking partners.
Operational coverage extended across North America, the UK, continental Europe and other international regions served by Air Canada Cargo, integrating operational workflows with trucking partners and carrier networks to provide end to end visibility. The system supported procurement and carrier negotiation processes alongside operational execution, tying freight cost information to reporting for finance and operations teams.
Governance and process changes focused on global standardization of procedures and centralized oversight from the Toronto management center, reducing regional variability in tracking and operational processes. The rollout emphasized automation for dispute resolution and freight payment, which led to faster vendor payments and a streamlined carrier procurement process that reduced negotiation time.
Outcomes documented by the customer included improved visibility, increased collaboration between operations and procurement, reduced carrier overcharges, improved global standardization, and reduced freight costs. Air Canada Cargo used E2open (ex BluJay TMS) Transportation Management to unify ground transportation, procurement, and finance functions under a single SaaS platform.
