In 2014, Aleris Corporation implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its core ERP Financial application. The deployment was positioned to support corporate finance and IT operations, with explicit operational responsibility for monthly departmental SG&A analysis and preparation of the 2017 IT OpEx plan.
The implementation centered on Oracle E-Business Suite R12 financial capabilities, configured to deliver general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, cash management, and financial reporting workflows typical of ERP Financial systems. Oracle E-Business Suite R12 was instrumented to standardize accounting transactions and to support month end and period close processes across finance teams.
The program included integration and operational support for Hyperion Financial Management, with Oracle EBS R12 feeding consolidation and reporting workflows in Hyperion Financial Management. Systems and user-base analysis activities were performed as part of the operational intake, enabling finance and IT to align user roles, access, and transaction processing across affected departments.
Governance and operationalization included formal process documentation and a structured new intern training program to onboard users to Oracle E-Business Suite, plus recurring monthly SG&A analysis cadence driven from the ERP Financial data. These activities supported ongoing systems stewardship and finance process controls without asserting specific outcome metrics.

In 2017, Aleris Corporation implemented iCIMS Recruit Applicant Tracking System as a centralized Applicant Tracking System to standardize hiring, compliance, and recruiter workflows across its North America operations. The deployment was positioned to support consistent application of HR policies and programs, with explicit emphasis on OFCCP compliance and affirmative action reporting across the business.
The iCIMS Recruit Applicant Tracking System implementation included core applicant tracking and requisition management capabilities, configurable workflow automation for candidate screening and offer routing, and reporting features used to create and maintain Affirmative Action Program outputs. Configuration work addressed auditability and data capture needed for OFCCP activities, and job aides were developed to codify hiring practices and manager training materials.
Operational integrations were focused and explicit, the ATS was used in close partnership with HRIS through monthly meetings for requirements, feedback, and testing to identify system improvements. The implementation also incorporated a connection with a third party pre-employment screening firm to initiate and assess background investigations and drug screens, with processes designed to push candidate data and track status for audit purposes.
Governance centered on a designated iCIMS subject matter expert who provided ongoing support to HRBPs and recruiters, managed user compliance, and served as single point of contact for the screening vendor. The program included formal audit processes, Job Aides, and standardized procedures to ensure legally compliant and consistent application of HR policies, implementation of OFCCP and AAP guidelines for open roles, and coordinated social media recruiting activity with Communications and Marketing.

In 2010, Aleris Corporation implemented Oracle Analytics Cloud as part of an enterprise Analytics and BI initiative, with the BI Architect driving a structured upgrade and platform redesign across Oracle Business Intelligence components. The implementation aligned OBIEE platform upgrades and Oracle Business Intelligence Applications modernization to establish a unified analytical environment supporting corporate reporting and ETL orchestration.
The project encompassed Oracle Business Intelligence Application modules for Procurement, Finance, Enterprise Asset Management and Manufacturing, with bespoke OBIA customizations to support Procurement Product Classifications. The BI Architect performed BI Administrator duties across OBIEE 10g, 11g and 12c, developed OBIA content for Spend and Procurement, Finance, EAM and MFG, and managed RPD versioning, BI Publisher reports and Agents, and KPI dashboard design.
Integration and architectural components included Informatica administration and workflow development on V8.1.6 and 9.0.1, implementation of OBIEE 11.1.1.6.8, Informatica 9.0.1, DAC 11g, OBIA 11.1.10.2 and ODI 11.1.1.9 to support a redesigned global OBIA platform. The team administered ETL troubleshooting for Informatica and ODI, managed DAC orchestration, and executed Critical Patch updates, while a proof of concept mirrored the on premise OBIEE 12c environment into Oracle Analytics Cloud and involved uploading and enhancing the RPD in the Cloud environment, user management and cloud performance monitoring.
Operational coverage included support and platform administration for North America and China users, and custom OBIEE support for European and Asia sales data warehouses. Day to day responsibilities addressed end user technical issues, enhancements, performance tuning, training, feature integration, Oracle Service request handling, resolution and documentation across finance, procurement and asset management business functions.
Governance workstream activities documented change requests, extensions and RPD versioning, and established processes for Informatica, DAC and ODI ETL change management and troubleshooting. The BI Architect also led documentation of BI publisher reports and agents, managed change control and championed increased user acceptance and adoption of the Oracle Business Intelligence platform.
