The deployment also provided the foundation for downstream procurement integration and consolidated spend visibility. In 2020 Alkem Laboratories selected SAP Ariba solutions to digitalize procurement and those cloud procurement offerings were integrated with SAP S/4 HANA to enable an end-to-end source-to-settle flow. Integration points described in the source included supplier master synchronization, purchase order and invoice flows, contract lifecycle handoff and consolidated spend analysis, enabling combined financial and procurement data for reporting. The implementation covered direct and indirect materials and services procurement across Alkem operations in more than 50 international markets. Governance and process transformation efforts emphasized standardized source-to-settle workflows, supplier collaboration procedures and centralized spend governance operating through the SAP S/4 HANA and SAP Ariba integration. Alkem expected the SAP Ariba integration with SAP S/4 HANA to increase transparency and sustainability, improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance supplier collaboration as part of its Intelligent Spend Management strategy. The overall configuration positioned SAP S/4 HANA to orchestrate finance and procurement operations for the company.

Configuration tasks documented included number range maintenance, relationship and evaluation path setup, and maintenance of the PLOGI ORGA switch to enable integration with Personnel Administration. Time Management configuration covered public holiday calendar classes, factory calendar maintenance, daily and periodic work schedules, work schedule rules and defaulting features, and configuration of absence types and absence quotas for annual leave, casual leave and compensatory off. Personnel Administration work included defining the personnel structure and assignments of personnel area to company code and employee subgroup to employee group, master data maintenance, internal and external number range allocation using feature NUMKR, pay scale areas and pay scale types configuration using feature TARIF, and employee subgroup grouping for PCR and CAP processing. Payroll configuration encompassed defining payroll areas and control records, period and date modifiers to generate payroll periods, assignment of pay scale structures and pay scale groups and levels, configuration of wage type characteristics, and maintenance of core infotypes including Basic Pay 0008, Recurring Payments and Deductions 0014, and Additional Payments 0015. Integrations and operational coverage emphasized the linkage between Organizational Management and Personnel Administration through the PLOGI ORGA switch, and alignment of payroll areas with the enterprise structure to support payroll processing. Data migration and cutover used LSMW for uploading multiple infotypes and payroll related master data. Governance activities focused on feature configuration for NUMKR and TARIF, evaluation path maintenance, and administrative group definitions to support ongoing HR administration. Alkem Laboratories SAP HCM (HR) Core HR supported HR administration, time and attendance management, and payroll processing across the organization.
