In 2016 Allegion Canada implemented Microsoft Power BI to deliver reporting and analytics capabilities for the business team. Microsoft Power BI was adopted as the central Analytics and BI application to create proofs of concept and then move into full development and enhancements supporting business reporting and operational insight.
Implementation work centered on developing interactive reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, with POC-driven requirements refinement before production builds. Reporting artifacts were designed to surface transactional and aggregated views, leveraging typical Analytics and BI functionality such as visualizations, dataset modeling, and scheduled refreshes to support business team decision workflows.
The deployment was integrated with an existing web application architecture comprising Angular 2 4 5 front ends, C# MVC back ends, Web API layers, Entity Framework data access, and SQL Server as the primary data store. Auth0 identity management was refactored into existing web applications to provide unified authentication for web and reporting surfaces, and Kofax Total Agility was maintained as part of document and workflow processing in the operational stack. CI CD pipelines were implemented using VSTS and PowerShell to support automated builds, tests, and deployments of web application changes alongside report releases.
Operational scope included development, production support, and ongoing enhancements led from an inhouse team with offshore support. Work was organized using Agile Scrum and Kanban methods, with a POC then build approach, formal estimation practices for deliverables, architecture design work, and responsibility for production deployments and support. The implementation tied Allegion Canada Microsoft Power BI Analytics and BI deliverables directly to business team reporting and application modernization efforts.
