| BlackRock | Legacy | BlackRock Aladdin | Portfolio and Investment Management | Investment Management | n/a | 2022 | 2022 | In 2022 Allianz Life USA deployed BlackRock Aladdin for Portfolio and Investment Management to centralize investment data flows and enable tighter integration between investment and accounting operations. The implementation focused on establishing an enterprise ingestion and transformation fabric rather than on source replacement, with Aladdin serving as the core portfolio and analytics platform for downstream consumption. Implementation architecture centered on a proposed Data Management Layer to standardize asset data from many asset managers. Engineering work used Azure Synapse pipelines and PySpark to build ETLs and data transformations, creating a persistent staging tier and orchestration layer to deliver cleansed positions, transactions, and valuation feeds into BlackRock Aladdin and back into accounting systems. Configuration and functional work targeted portfolio and investment workflows common to the Portfolio and Investment Management category, including automated position and transaction ingestion, valuation feed integration, and reconciliations to accounting books. BlackRock Aladdin was instrumented to receive normalized feeds and to expose analytics and risk inputs, while the DMS provided canonical data models and transformation logic to support both investment operations and financial close processes. Governance and delivery emphasized data engineering best practices and cross‑team coordination, with consultants leading development teams and working with vendors to plan integrations between financial systems and BlackRock Aladdin. Rollout activities were scoped to enable staged delivery across accounting and investment system consumers, supported by standardized ETL patterns, pipeline monitoring, and handoffs to operations and data governance stakeholders. |
