| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2005 | 2005 |
In 2005, Alpina Savoie implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to support ERP Financial processes. The company faced a backlog of more than 100,000 SAP financial transactions and management of over 30,000 product references, a combined operational pressure that exceeded staff capacity and threatened regular posting and master data maintenance.
Alpina Savoie addressed both transaction backlog and product master data work by deploying Winshuttle Studio desktop automation alongside SAP ERP ECC 6.0. Winshuttle Studio enabled users to stage and validate financial transactions in Microsoft Excel, validate records against SAP ERP ECC 6.0 before posting, and execute mass uploads through scripted automation, while the same script approach was applied to product master data management to process the 30,000 product references.
Architecturally the implementation used a desktop-to-SAP pattern, with Excel-driven automation scripts orchestrating validations and postings into SAP ERP ECC 6.0, removing the need for large scale bespoke development. Operational coverage centered on finance and product master data teams, with business users developing, testing and adapting Winshuttle Studio scripts without continuous IT development support, which preserved IT resources and accelerated delivery.
Governance and process change emphasized business user ownership of script lifecycle, rapid iterative testing, and selecting automation functionality aligned to specific SAP-based finance and accounting processes. The chosen approach reduced the projected manual effort of four to five full-time employees working three months, eliminated the backlog in a matter of days including script development and testing, improved master data quality and enabled more regular, in-depth business analysis, and the platform paid for itself in a short period of time.
