In 2019, AltaGas Ltd. implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as its ERP Financial platform, initiating a company level program to standardize core finance and operational workflows. The Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne deployment targeted Finance, Project Costing, Supply Chain Management, Payroll, HR and Master Data to provide an integrated transaction and costing backbone for utility operations.
Configuration and module work included Project Costing and Supply Chain Management updates, Payroll and HR functional stabilization, and master data governance. The implementation team led an upgrade from JD Edwards 9.1 to 9.2 for Project Costing and Supply Chain Management, and documented business processes to identify automation and efficiency opportunities, including an HR onboarding portal and HR benefits and leave process redesign.
The technical architecture included an enterprise wide Windows Server upgrade to support JD Edwards integrations and interfaces, and operational reporting linkage to PowerBI and QuickLaunch for business analytics and user training. The program maintained a formal liaison with outsourced CNC teams to coordinate application support and interface continuity across the organization.
Governance and operating model changes accompanied the ERP Financial rollout, with establishment and management of an Architecture Review Board and participation in a Business Optimization Committee to drive process improvements. Operational outcomes explicitly recorded include a reduction of approximately 30 business hours in the HR Year End Benefits process, combined with training programs to improve user adoption of JD Edwards, QuickLaunch and PowerBI.

In 2020, Altagas Ltd. extended Workday Absence Management as part of a multi-entity Workday rollout across its North American operating companies. The deployment extended an existing Washington Gas Workday footprint to AltaGas, SEMCO, ENSTAR, and PetroGas, bringing a centralized Absence and Leave Management capability into a consolidated enterprise design.
The program included process redesign and implementation of Core HCM, Recruiting, Absence, and Compensation modules, with Workday Absence Management configured to support standard absence plans, eligibility rules, accrual calculations, absence calendars, notification workflows, and absence reporting. New and redesigned reports were delivered to align absence reporting with enterprise HR metrics, and security roles were restructured to enforce cross-entity access controls consistent with the overall Workday design.
Operationally the implementation tied Absence and Leave Management into the Core HCM and Recruiting functional footprint to ensure consistent employee records, hire and leave lifecycle orchestration, and unified reporting across HR and compensation teams. The rollout covered HR, payroll touch points, and compensation planning processes across the named entities, embedding absence workflows into existing HR operational practices.
Governance and rollout were executed with a multi-year project cadence, with a project management engagement spanning July 2020 through October 2022, and formal process redesign activities to support enterprise security and reporting standards. An Advanced Compensation project was underway to replace a legacy Annual Compensation Planning tool, and Workforce Planning capabilities were being evaluated as part of the broader HR systems roadmap.

In 2015, Altagas Ltd. initiated IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management solution as part of an enterprise IT consolidation and asset management strategy. The IBM Maximo initiative was grounded in prior asset management planning activities led by the Manager IT Business Office and aligned with a companywide capability baseline created through a fully populated APQC level 2 model for AltaGas and its business units.
The Maximo deployment focused on core Enterprise Asset Management capabilities, including a centralized asset registry, work order management, preventive maintenance scheduling, and MRO inventory controls. Configuration and process design were mapped to the APQC level 2 capability model to standardize maintenance and procurement workflows and to enable planned maintenance automation and asset lifecycle tracking.
Integrations supported by the program included links to procurement and parts management workflows that referenced JDE OneWorld and the use of IHS Struxure for MRO parts data and cataloging as implemented for JDE OneWorld. Operational coverage extended across AltaGas business units and subsidiary companies, with primary business functions impacted including maintenance and reliability, field operations, procurement, and inventory management.
Governance and rollout leveraged an informal IT PMO created within the IT Business Office, MRO parts inventory governance practices, and the existing strategic planning and BI foundation built with Microsoft Power BI and SQL Reporting Server. The IBM Maximo implementation was undertaken in the context of broader IT changes that included cybersecurity strategy adoption of NIST, an incident response process, and enterprise SIEM procurement, ensuring security and compliance considerations were incorporated into asset management workflows.
