In 2012, Ancestry Operations implemented Oracle E-Business Suite. Ancestry Operations implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial backbone to audit employee expense reports submitted through the Oracle iExpense system, supporting finance and HR expense operations in the United States for the company’s approximately 1300 employees.
The implementation concentrated on the Oracle iExpense module within Oracle E-Business Suite, configured for electronic expense capture, multi-level approval workflows, and rule-based audit controls. Configuration work addressed expense type mappings, approval routing tied to organizational hierarchies, and validation rules for per-diem and mileage entries to enforce expense policies.
Oracle E-Business Suite general ledger and accounts payable functional modules were configured to accept validated expense transactions for accounting and payment processing, keeping expense transaction records within the ERP Financial system. Audit controls were instrumented to produce immutable audit trails and event timestamps, enabling finance-led reviews and exception identification while maintaining a single source of record for expense compliance.
Governance changes included formalizing approval thresholds, segregation of duties rules, and documented audit procedures executed through Oracle iExpense workflows. Rollout emphasized centralized policy enforcement, role-based access configuration, and process standardization across corporate expense management to support ongoing expense auditing.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, Ancestry Operations implemented Workday Absence Management as a component of its global Workday HCM estate. The Workday Absence Management deployment supported an HR technology program that is designed and maintained centrally, with accountability for security, business processes, integrations, reporting and overall HCM configuration for a company of approximately 1,300 employees.
The implementation focused on core Absence and Leave Management capabilities, including absence and vacation tracking, time tracking alignment, and benefits-related workflow configuration. Workday Absence Management was configured to support absence and vacation tracking across six countries, and the team served as subject matter experts for HCM, Absence, Benefits and Time Tracking while applying calculated fields, business process fundamentals and advanced reporting to enforce consistent configurations.
Operational integration work emphasized vendor integrations and day-to-day interoperability with benefits, compensation and analytics processes, with ownership of integrations, reporting, and HCM security. The deployment impacted HR operations, benefits administration, compensation planning and onboarding processes, and was instrumented to support global business process consistency while keeping country-specific absence rules in configuration.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical work, with centralized ownership of business processes and system workflow, and regular recommendations for HRIS upgrades, self-service and outsourcing initiatives based on systems architecture. The program also drove broader HR reforms, including a global grade restructuring and execution of over 45 career ladders for 12 cost centers, and electronic onboarding was executed to improve system accuracy and reduce administrative cost by 35 percent.

| IBM | Legacy | IBM Watson | Cognitive Computing | AI-Powered Application | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Ancestry Operations implemented IBM Watson as part of a Cognitive Computing initiative to modernize finance and planning workloads. The deployment accompanied a move from on-premises infrastructure to IBM Cloud and was led operationally by Jose Balitactac, Financial Planning and Analysis Applications Manager, who serves as the point of contact for IBM applications including Planning Analytics with Watson and Cognos Analytics.
Ancestry uses IBM Planning Analytics with Watson, Cognos Analytics and Watson alongside IBM Watson to build finance applications for income statement, balance sheet and cash flow modeling, and to manage discrete modules for workforce, revenue and CapEx. The team validated the approach by starting with the income statement as a test case, then building a workforce module, a revenue module and a CapEx module before expanding to integrated enterprise planning. Functional workflows implemented include budgeting, labor cost planning, subscriptions and revenue forecasting, and supply chain planning for DNA operations.
Architecturally Planning Analytics with Watson is hosted on IBM Cloud and serves as an analytics engine and data source for Cognos, with a newly built Cognos data feed and work underway to surface Planning Analytics as a mobile Cognos data source. Integrations explicitly implemented include Cognos Analytics consuming Planning Analytics data and mobile app deployment of Cognos visualizations, enabling analysts to access models without taking systems offline. Operational coverage focuses on accounting and financial planning departments and global analyst teams operating across multiple time zones.
Governance and rollout followed a staged module approach under Balitactac's stewardship, enabling change management that avoids user ejection during updates and supports real-time parameter changes. Prior processes required taking systems offline for one to eight hours and forecasting cycles could take two weeks, now parameter and code changes execute in minutes or seconds and forecasting occurs interactively. The implementation emphasizes rapid what-if analysis, real-time access for accounting and financial planning, and enterprise planning orchestration using IBM Watson and related IBM analytics products.
