In 2016, Apator implemented Infor LN as its Manufacturing ERP in the production area. The Infor LN deployment reached operational control of production orders, purchase orders, bills of materials and manufacturing technologies within five months of go live.
Implementation focused on core manufacturing modules, configured to manage production orders, BOM management, routing and technology definitions, and purchasing workflows. Functional capabilities included shop floor visualization of production results, weekly production reporting, and embedded production KPI tracking. These capabilities were aligned with production planning and engineering workflows to shorten engineering lead times.
Operational coverage extended across Production Technology, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality and Production departments, supporting Apator's electronic SMT and THT board manufacturing and gas meter production lines. The deployment supported management layers of four production managers and staff bands of 65 to 400 people in manufacturing operations. Business functions impacted included production execution, materials purchasing, engineering time calculation and quality complaint handling.
Governance and process changes accompanied the technical implementation, including implementation of production KPI programs, weekly production reports, management by objectives and shop floor visualization, plus a 5S external audit and Lean Management training program. Apator reported explicit operational outcomes after the Infor LN rollout, including average reductions in engineering time of 32 percent for THT technology and 40 percent for TEST technology.
