In 2021, argenx implemented Oracle Cloud ERP to establish a centralized ERP Financial backbone supporting corporate finance and control activities. The implementation targeted corporate activities with a focal site in Gent and coordination across a global team, aligning the new Oracle Cloud ERP deployment with corporate accounting, finance, and compliance functions.
Configuration emphasis centered on building a fit for purpose internal controls framework within Oracle Cloud ERP, with explicit capabilities for SOx control mapping, risk assessment workflows, policy and procedure documentation, and financial reporting controls. The Internal Controls Manager Corporate role was defined to manage and improve the controls framework, lead control redesign, and support application rollouts, reflecting requirements that include familiarity with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP.
Operational coverage extended to finance, accounting, internal audit, and compliance stakeholders, with the implementation structured to merge control execution into day to day activities of process and control owners. The program included coordination with external auditors to plan and execute SOx audits and relied on cross functional collaboration with key business partners to preserve SOx compliance as processes and reporting requirements evolve.
Governance and rollout practices emphasized redesigning internal controls to be future proof, embedding controls into stakeholder workflows, and establishing responsibilities for timely development and updating of policies, procedures, and work instructions. The deployment approach positioned the Internal Controls Manager Corporate to lead internal control related projects and to coordinate audit activities, ensuring the ERP Financial system operations were integrated with corporate governance and compliance processes.
