In 2017 Mettenberger deployed SAP S/4 HANA - Accounts Payables as an AP Automation initiative to centralize and standardize accounts payable processing within its finance organization. The implementation followed a Central Finance pattern and targeted core finance functions including accounts payable, general ledger and associated inventory interfacing, while also accounting for accounts receivable postings that are outside sales flows.
The SAP S/4 HANA - Accounts Payables implementation included configuration of AP automation workflows and financial posting structures, plus mapping of pure GL, AR (excluding sales), AP with inventory linkage, inventory valuation flows and sales-related posting attributes such as revenue, discounts, alcohol taxes, cost of goods sold, trade spend and container deposit levy. Extraction job design, development and test script completion were core deliverables supporting transactional consistency and reconciliation across the finance landscape.
Integrations were executed through replication of transactional data from Microsoft Dynamics AX tables, with close collaboration with Ernst & Young SAP Data and Analytics team on the design of extraction jobs and data pipelines. AX financial transactions were exploded into constituent elements for Customer, Material and GL-level attributes, and AX master data mappings were prepared to align source master records with SAP Operations.
Rollout governance incorporated structured testing phases including SIT1, SIT2, UAT and PVT, formal defect logging and sign-off, and a change control process that raised and presented change requests to a Change Approval Board. Governance workstreams emphasized master data alignment and test-driven validation to support operational cutover into SAP S/4 HANA - Accounts Payables.
