| SAP | Legacy | SAP S/4 HANA | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2021 | 2023 |
In 2021, AstraZeneca US implemented SAP S/4 HANA as the core enterprise resource planning solution to support its global Source, Plan and Deliver agenda. The deployment was scoped as an ERP Financial program intended to consolidate finance and operational transactional capability across procurement, planning and production support for Global Operations.
The SAP S/4 HANA implementation centered on the financial management ledger and transactional accounting, procurement and sourcing workflows, inventory and warehouse management, and planning orchestration to align operational and finance processes. Configuration work emphasized master data consolidation, standardized transactional flows, and automation-ready process definitions to enable analytics, machine learning and robotics process automation investments described in the IT strategy.
Operational coverage for SAP S/4 HANA targeted Global Supply Chain and Sourcing processes and was designed to interoperate with manufacturing execution and analytics platforms at site and regional levels, including Gaithersburg in the United States and Sodertalje in Sweden. Integration focus addressed order to cash, procure to pay and plan to produce process consistency, and a single financial ledger for operations to reduce fragmentation between sites and functions.
Program governance was led by the Head of Global IT Plan, Logistics, Sourcing & ERP Transformation in partnership with Business Digital and Program leadership, the Enterprise Process Owner, OSLT and ITLT, Enterprise Architecture, Data & Analytics and the Transformation PMO. Governance and delivery emphasized an integrated digital roadmap, standard digital processes, agile delivery and ongoing operational exploitation to simplify ERP within Operations and align technology investments to Global Operations objectives.

| UKG | Legacy | UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) | Time and Attendance | HCM | n/a | 2010 | 2010 |
In 2010 AstraZeneca US deployed UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) to establish a centralized Time and Attendance capability supporting HR and site operations. UKG Workforce Central Timekeeper (ex Kronos Workforce Timekeeper) served as the primary time capture and timekeeping platform for workforce scheduling, timecard management, and hours reporting across impacted sites.
Configuration emphasized standard time capture workflows, exception handling, labor rules and timecard approval chains, and reporting for compliance and operational visibility. Typical Time and Attendance modules implemented included clocking and badge capture, shift scheduling, supervisor approvals, accruals and leave tracking, and time event processing to support payroll handoff.
Project execution included a Kronos version 8 upgrade and managed local timelines, milestones, and deliverables for interconnected HR programs, including sitewide PET Restructuring and organizational design, the annual Rewarding Performance cycle, and Ops2020 Culture initiatives. Integrations were implemented in line with Time and Attendance practice, providing interfaces to payroll and core HR systems for employee master data and payroll feed processing, while preserving system-of-record time data for downstream HR workflows.
Governance was organized around local project teams that controlled timelines, milestones and deliverables, with HR and operations stakeholders driving configuration acceptance and cutover activities. Change management and role-based access controls were used to align timekeeping workflows with site HR policies and operational scheduling, reflecting a coordinated approach between workforce management and HR functions.

| Certara | Legacy | Certara D360 | Laboratory Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2014 | 2014 |
In 2014, AstraZeneca US implemented Certara D360 as a Laboratory Management application to consolidate laboratory and assay informatics workflows across R&D functions. The Certara D360 deployment was positioned to support discovery chemistry, DMPK assay handling, and clinical study data capture used by clinical study teams and site selection and monitoring analysis groups.
The implementation emphasized laboratory data management capabilities, including standardized assay and chemistry data capture, metadata management for study and protocol elements, and support for master data entity catalog efforts that documented entities, data types, affiliated systems and FAIR status. Configuration work focused on instrument and assay result onboarding, assay metadata templates, and role based access for bench scientists and informatics users.
Operational integration linked Certara D360 into AstraZeneca US informatics and analytics tooling, operating alongside visualization and analytics tools such as SpotFire and Pipeline Pilot, ETL pipelines built with Informatica PowerCenter, and site data held in Oracle databases and in-house applications including Activity Base and Assay Explorer. Backend architecture work included designing connectors and processes to incorporate study data from external sources and to feed downstream analytics and reporting systems.
Governance and adoption activities included targeted training for scientists on Certara D360, process optimization exercises with DMPK teams to standardize workflows, and the creation of documented business processes and validated system artifacts to support regulated R&D use. The rollout prioritized harmonized data capture for site feasibility and patient recruitment estimates, and local informatics teams coordinated configuration and user enablement across discovery and clinical groups.
