In 2016, ATALIAN Malaysia implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, an ERP Financial application. The initiative was led from ATALIAN ASIA's newly established regional headquarters, with the Regional IT Project Manager reporting to the Regional CEO and Group CIO and building a three person regional IT core team, ERP Project Manager, Finance Business Analyst, and IT Infrastructure Engineer, to establish IT organization and coordinate IT due diligence with the Mergers and Acquisitions project team.
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations deployment covered core Finance, Sales, and Procurement modules and was executed across five countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, in three implementation waves over a two year program, delivered within stated scope, schedule, and budget. Configuration and rollout followed a phased wave approach to align local chart of accounts and transactional finance processes with regional operational controls, while sales order and procurement workflows were standardized to support cross-border service delivery.
Concurrently, the program managed broader application scope across Asia, including planning and executing a migration of messaging to the Office 365 suite for nine countries and 24 subsidiaries completed in six months and ahead of schedule by three months. A SalesForce CRM implementation was rolled out for nine countries in five months covering lead to opportunity management, and a Regional HR and Payroll solution was implemented across nine countries within one year, producing documented monthly payroll savings of between US$10,000 and US$15,000, and reductions of six to eight percent per country due to payroll discrepancy remediation. These programs impacted Finance, Sales, Procurement, HR, Payroll, and IT operational functions across the region.
Governance was formalized by creating Atalian's Global PMO committee and developing project management standards aligned to the Project Management Institute PMBOK, which guided program and portfolio level controls for the ERP Financial program. The lead was promoted to Regional IT Director in January 2018 to design and drive ongoing digital transformation initiatives across the region.
