In 2021, Atkins Farm, Garden Machinery and Parts migrated its web storefront to Sana Commerce Cloud while running Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its primary ERP Financial application. The project followed an initial Sana 9.3.5 deployment in March 2020 and a full move to Sana Commerce Cloud in April 2021, with implementation support and a recommendation from SI partner Simply Dynamics 365.
The implementation centered on the Sana Commerce Cloud add-on integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, delivering a unified commerce and ERP workflow. Functional capabilities implemented include the Visual Designer for fast page composition, Sana Admin for catalog and content management, real time product list and product page rendering from ERP data, and a publish pipeline that accelerates page creation to publication.
Integration work emphasized real time synchronization between the e-commerce layer and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, enabling accurate stock visibility and order capture 24/7. The web store was configured to support gated B2B ordering with account based access while also serving B2C customers, and catalog, pricing and inventory flows derive directly from Business Central master data.
Operational changes reduced reliance on external contractors by empowering internal staff to build pages and promotional content, with the Atkins e-commerce manager able to create a full page including product lists, product pages and content pages and publish in under four minutes. Governance included a company policy to restrict online sales to registered B2B accounts and a content cadence supported by Sana Commerce Cloud bi weekly updates.
Outcomes reported by Atkins are explicit and measurable in their own reporting, including over 50 percent of business now conducted online, B2B business running at 200 percent year to date, B2C running at over 190 percent year to date, reliable and accurate stock availability via the web store, and a 160 percent increase in overall traffic compared to 2020 with organic search providing more than 80 percent of visitors. The Atkins web store also received industry recognition by winning the E Commerce Success Award at the B2B E Commerce Awards.
