In 2019 Aurora Contractors implemented Bluebeam Revu for Collaboration to support estimating and project management workflows on projects ranging from 5M to 50M. The deployment targeted the estimating team and project managers, and the application was used to centralize plan review, markup, and measurement activities across preconstruction and construction handoff phases.
Bluebeam Revu was configured to deliver core Collaboration capabilities including PDF markup and annotation, quantity measurement and on screen takeoff support, standardized tool sets and templates for estimating, and document version control with markup tracking. Configuration emphasized repeatable estimating workflows, sheet overlays for quantity reconciliation, and exportable measurement data that feeds downstream cost models and bid packages.
Integrations and operational coverage reflected existing estimating toolchains, Bluebeam Revu workflows were used alongside On Screen Takeoff and Excel programs to compile full takeoffs and to produce drafted estimates, and plan files from AutoCAD were ingested as source PDFs for measurement. In 2006, Aurora Contractors implemented PlanWell Bidcaster for Construction Bidding. PlanWell Bidcaster served as the central bid management and subcontractor communication tool, consolidating bid invitation workflows, RFI tracking, and drawing log maintenance. Functional capabilities used included bid invitation distribution, RFI and drawing log recording, subcontractor research and contact management, and maintenance of submittal and shop drawing registers. The application was used to assist the Lead Project Estimator with awarding work to subcontractors and to prepare client and subcontractor meetings.
Operational scope remained concentrated in estimating and project preconstruction activities, with staff maintaining spreadsheets for submittals, bids and shop drawings for projects awarded to Aurora Contractors. Governance centered on documented handoffs from estimating to project teams, a routine follow up cadence for subcontractor responses, and consolidation of RFI and drawing logs into PlanWell Bidcaster for a single source of bid information. The implementation also supported business development workflows through targeted research and presentation of project opportunities.
