In 2017, Bachem Holding implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform. The program ran from 2017 to 2019 and was executed as a global ERP roll-out and deployment spanning multiple corporate sites.
Bachem deployed SAP S/4 HANA to centralize core financial management capabilities. The implementation encompassed general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, statutory reporting and the financial close sequence, alongside master data consolidation and chart of accounts harmonization consistent with ERP Financial function requirements.
The project included a structured migration from SAP R/3 to SAP S/4 HANA, with dedicated data migration and master data harmonization workstreams to consolidate transactional histories and financial masters. Integration activity focused on consolidating financial transactions and closing flows into the new SAP S/4 HANA environment, supported by extensive testing and cutover planning.

In 2017, Bachem Holding implemented SAP S/4 HANA - Plant Maintenance (PM). The SAP S/4 HANA - Plant Maintenance (PM) deployment targeted core maintenance and asset lifecycle management under the Plant Maintenance category to support maintenance operations, notification and work order processing, and maintenance planning across operational sites.
The implementation focused on Plant Maintenance functional capabilities, including equipment master data, functional locations, preventive maintenance plans, notification management, work order execution, and spare parts provisioning. Configuration emphasized PM workflows and transactional processing consistent with SAP S/4 HANA PM, while aligning quality checks with SAP Quality Management where inspection steps were required.
The rollout included a Computerized Maintenance Management Solution implementation at the Vionnaz site and incorporation of a mobile SAP Asset Manager solution to enable field technicians. The CMMS evaluation, procurement and implementation was executed with a project volume of CHF 1.4m. Operational coverage included maintenance teams at the Vionnaz site with program oversight and project management activities based from Bubendorf and the Basel metropolitan area.
Governance was administered through the internal Project Management Office with a focus on project and portfolio management improvement, requirements gathering, procurement, and stakeholder management.
