| FIS Global | Legacy | FIS GETPAID | AR Automation | ERP | n/a | 2004 | 2004 |
In 2004, Baker & Taylor implemented FIS GETPAID to centralize accounts receivable automation across billing, cash application, and collections, aligning the deployment with its AR Automation objectives. The implementation targeted corporate finance and accounts receivable operations within the distribution company and established FIS GETPAID as the core AR Automation platform supporting invoice presentment, payment processing, and collections workflow orchestration.
Configuration work focused on cash application automation, including a developed upload feature within the cash application program and automation of lockbox batch header data, alongside other back-end payment application automations. The accounts receivable team also led an invoice consolidation project to reduce invoice volume and automate billing, and collaborated with IT to build foreign currency acceptance functionality and to standardize credit card acceptance and related procedures.
Integrations and adjacent systems were formalized as part of the rollout, with FIS GETPAID operating alongside AR Collections workflow tools, Cforia MC2 for credit decisioning, an online credit application integrated using DocuSign, and Billtrust as a customer-facing portal for online bill presentment and payment. Operational coverage included multi-state finance activities, and the AR stack was instrumented to support cash application, collections, billing automation, and customer payment self-service.
Governance and process changes were driven through partnerships between AR and IT, with iterative technological implementations to improve productivity and controls. Outcomes reported include headcount reduction in cash application from 20 to 4 FTEs, an estimated 0.5 FTE reduction from invoice consolidation efforts, and a managed multi-state unclaimed property audit that reduced estimated liability from $28M to $1.2M. Baker & Taylor combined the FIS GETPAID deployment with standardized card acceptance procedures to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.
