In 2018 Banco Económico upgraded Oracle Flexcube Universal Banking System from version 7.1 to 12.4 as part of a Core Banking renewal program in Angola. The implementation focused on stabilizing the bank core processing stack to support retail and corporate account servicing, back-office settlement, and channel integration for a mid-sized bank environment.
The deployment centered on configuring Oracle Flexcube modules for deposits, account management, loans and credit management, and payments processing, with explicit alignment to the bank's product catalogue and local regulatory posting rules. Work included integration touch points for card and terminal processing, lending workflows, and securities lifecycle processing consistent with the bank's existing applications portfolio.
Integration architecture was implemented using Oracle SOA Suite as an enterprise service bus to orchestrate web services, MQ, SWIFT, ISO messaging, and file-based interfaces between Oracle Flexcube and peripheral systems. Known integrations included the Tranzway cards and payments terminal core, Sifox securities and stocks management, a lending and credit management system, university protocol applications, and an API management layer to support an open banking strategy.
Governance and delivery were structured around a design authority and application integration leadership model, with change control applied to configuration, interface contracts, and messaging standards. The upgrade followed a staged rollout path from 7.1 to 12.4, coordinating cross-functional teams across core banking, payments, securities, and channel operations, while preserving integration contracts through the SOA mediated architecture.

In 2011, Banco Económico implemented ProcessMaker BPM as a Process Mining solution to automate and instrument its end to end credit and loan workflows. Banco Económico retained ProcessMaker professional services to model the bank’s credit process and to execute a jointly authored Statement of Work covering application intake through disbursement, ensuring the project timeline and scope were defined by bank stakeholders and ProcessMaker consultants.
The ProcessMaker BPM deployment delivered modeled flows for application, review and approval, registration, and disbursement, and included electronic forms for credit applications designed to match the bank’s existing paper forms to preserve regulatory compliance. ProcessMaker BPM was configured to generate role based tasks, automated routing for approvals, and the report and alert capabilities used during startup to surface status and exception conditions to operational users.
Integration work included a secure web services connection between ProcessMaker and the bank’s back end system, referred to in project documentation as the SFI and also described as the bank’s Integrated Financial System IFS, using the ProcessMaker Web Services API. This integration enabled two way exchange of customer and transaction data so information obtained and generated in ProcessMaker BPM is recorded in the IFS, and data from the IFS is dynamically consumed within the automated credit workflows, operating transparently to users.
Governance and rollout were structured around the SOW, with a hybrid implementation team composed of ProcessMaker and Banco Económico professionals, and with the bank’s legal team validating contract printing and presentation formats. ProcessMaker also developed numerous operational reports that were critical in the startup phase, and the automated process included automatic alerts for delays or special conditions to support operational oversight.
