In 2021, The Bay implemented NuOrder Assortments, an Assortment Planning application to digitize its buying and merchandising processes across Canada. The Bay used NuOrder Assortments to centralize assortment decisioning for buyers and suppliers, aligning merchandising and buying functions within a single Assortment Planning workflow.
The implementation focused on assortment visualization and development capabilities, enabling buyers and suppliers to build assortments and configure store level localization. NuOrder Assortments was configured to automate purchase order and item creation, and to support assortment rollups and line level planning common to assortment planning workflows.
Operational coverage included merchandising and buying teams and supplier collaboration across The Bay retail footprint in Canada, with the application used to accelerate go to market sequencing and order creation workflows. The deployment emphasized supplier facing assortment review and automated PO creation to shorten merchandising cycle times.
Governance changes centered on embedding NuOrder Assortments into existing buying workflows and supplier collaboration processes, shifting assortment approval and PO creation into the new platform. The Bay reported improved localization of assortments by store and accelerated go to market and order creation workflows as outcomes of the NuOrder Assortments implementation.
